Photographs l have taken capturing moments and beautiful scenery alike around the medieval town of Sandwich and surrounding areas in Kent and added to nature and inspiration quotes and accompanied with music. Sandwich, Kent I live in the beautiful and historic town of Sandwich in Kent in the southeast of England. The River Stour lies on the edge of the town. Originally, Sandwich was one of the Cinque Ports, and we have many medieval buildings here from the original construction time. Sandwich is two miles from the coast, and although once it was a major port in its own right, this is no longer the case due to the silting up of the River Stour. Gazen Salts Nature Reserve The woodlands are home to many species of flora also such as primroses, celandine, dog rose, oak, ash, wild cherry, elm, field maple, wild privet, marsh marigold, marshmallow, meadowsweet, black bush, yellow iris and many other exciting plants of interest. The lake and the waterways in the Reserve are sustained by a sluice gate connected to the River Stour. The waters further feed and play host to a diverse range of wildlife, including species such as sticklebacks, pond skaters, diving beetles, frogs and toads, newts, kingfishers, moorhens, bats, rats, shrews, weasels, stoats, foxes, hedgehogs, moles, water voles, grass snakes, mallard, tufted, pochard and shoveler ducks, warblers, woodpeckers, blackcaps, sparrowhawks, grey squirrels, parakeets and others including many butterfly species too. In the US The Old Pharmacy would have to be called “Ye Olde Pharmacy”😂😂😂
More beautiful pictures, and lovely music too.

Thank you – what did you think to the new layout Angie? you view it from the blog side over that of the reader yes?
I am trialling the new way of delivering the images and reducing the quotes.

I like seeing all the pictures at once, without scrolling thru them. Although scrolling thru wasn’t a problem😂 I always read from my browser so it’s a “mobile” view, but it’s the full blog, not reader version. Even when I used the reader to collect all the blogs I followed, I’d go to the actual site. I prefer it to reader.
With the quotes, did you intend to use the same picture with each quote? It’s a nice picture of the blossoms and the rounded differentiates the quotes from the photos. 🤷🏼♀️ I like them both. The old quotes were fine too, just that one time I noticed a duplicate, but I’ve missed a few of the posts.

Thanks for the info.
Yes l meant to use the same blossom image with the quotes 🙂 Just so as to uniform the image for the quote but have a different quote.
What my future plan is with Wild Walks especially is to have more information below the ‘music audio clip. Currently it’s just a repeat of the bottom ‘streets and so on, but soon it will be History snippets or information snippets of the overall photos’.
i wanted to use a different gallery style to hopefully make the photos a bit more impactive and more of a collective focus. With this gallery theme it means l can display ‘more’ but it doesn’t look more although it is. 18 images per gallery in comparison to the previous 10-12.

Interesting. You’re right, it didn’t seem like more, even though it was all right there. Very cool! 😎

Hey Rory!
Enjoyed this post immensely. I’m so happy you have found such a beautiful place to live.
I love your new format and really like the idea of including historical snippets of information along with the photos.
Hope this finds you well and happy! We’re doing okay here.
Wishing you a great rest of the week. 😊

Hey Betty, glad you and Bud and the Featherlies are all keeping well 🙂
Thanks for the comment and compliment to the new style of gallery. I think once the blog launches and these little tweaks are ironed out properly it’ll be smooth sailing.
Keep well 🙂

Beautiful photos, Rory, and I love how you structured the photos. Also, your splash of flowers with the quote is a nice added touch. All in all, a fabulous presentation!

Hey Eugenia 🙂
Thank you.
Yes l am more relaxed with this gallery style and the whole story it tells from photographer to viewer and from visual story teller to story reader.
This is the way forwards and a lot easier to manage and maintain.
The slideshows as much l love them were not looking great in the Reader and whilst l am not specifically writing for the WordPress Reader function, l am still creating for Readers from WordPress and as you know, at times everything has to be just right.

I don’t use the reader but I agree our blogs still have to present themselves for those that do.
I tried the FSE on my smaller blog and was not thrilled with the results. I switched it back to an older theme, which, I had to rebuild the entire blog. Perhaps, FSE will improve over time and I’ll try it again. But for now it is what it is.

That’s a bummer Eugenia. How much time did you lose with the transition?
Yes l know you don’t use the Reader like myself, Angie is the same. Plus you know my thoughts on the Reader l think it’s a curse and not a blessing hahaha.
