Mad as a Box of Frogs

Composting Prompt Ingredients – Once a Week Prompt
Everyone loves a creative push, a gentle nudge, and what better to sate that passion than a writing prompt? Something to stir the imagination, or to inspire the mind, tickle the fancy, provide a bit of a distraction, and maybe provide some entertainment along the way too?

But why, Composting’ Prompt’ Ingredients? What’s that all about then? The secret to a great ‘compost’ heap is the ingredients. It’s a bit like a dash of this, a splash of that and a few drops of something else, as a witch might say when stirring up a cauldron concoction.

Composting isn’t rocket science but gentle crafting and building your skills up, and eventually, you’ll find a balance that is right for you in your quest for gardener’s gold! Composting is all about knowing what you can add and the right ingredients.

So if we were to say ‘composting prompt ingredients’, that is all about seeing what works with writing. Therefore, your ingredients might be prompt, inspiration, creativity, imagination, opinion, suggestion, provocation, controversy, moments, chance encounters, experiences, uniqueness, personality, individuality, perspective, reading, etc.

Here it’s a case of teasing your curiosity out with a few choice distractions, and all the Earthly Comfort prompts are designed to allow your interpretation to create for you, allowing your mind to run wild. Be they questions to make you think or puzzles to make you wonder, or snippets of wordery to bring out your artisan crafts to bump and grind their way along with the keyboard – it’s all up to you and how you decide to express yourself and above all, it’s about having some fun!.

So, should you wish, please feel free to drop a comment below, or if teased and tempted enough, then create your post and please remember to link your blog to mine with a pingback; otherwise, I’ll never see your response.

Pingbacks are easy to do – Copy the URL (the HTTPS:// address of the prompt post) and paste it into your post. You may also place a copy of the URL of your post in the comments of the current week’s prompt.

Season One – Game 1
Mad as a Box of Frogs

Where and what does the phrase ‘Mad as a box of frogs originate from and mean?’
At what age do you think you would clearly recognise a ‘much younger version of you’ if you bumped into YOU on the street today?

[example – if l bumped into any version of me younger than 15 l wouldn’t recognise myself]
How would you react if you woke up one morning next to a headless horse?
What country would you most like to visit if you were a rabbit and why?
When did Time actually begin and if you are not sure well then make something up!
How often do you forget what you just sai … ?
Who would you rather be – Casper the Friendly Ghost or Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost and why?
Which came first – the banana or the orange or yellow and orange the colours?
Are we actually living our best lives?
Do you think we owe the world our life, the world owes us our life, or we owe it to ourselves to live life? [Interpret as you wish]

So there we go folks!

Let me know your views and observations below or should you wish to, create a post and ask your own readers , just remember to keep me in the loop with a ping back.

Thanks for Reading, see you next Saturday!

  1. I think I would recognize myself from about age 5-6 on… school age Angie. I can still remember *being* that child.

A headless horse in my bed? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’d probably wonder what Ben was up to now🤪 and who drugged me so deeply I slept thru the placement and where can I get MORE of whatever they used😉

How often do I forget… um… forget something… what was it? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m very forgetful and sometimes easily distrac… Look! Parrots! What was I writing? 🤔

BEN!! What the Uck is this??

Hahaha, always reminds me of the film with Mel Brooks Life Stinks about being a red fire truck over being a Mayor of a city and how easy it was to forget what’s just been said!

  2. I have never heard your phrase before – that is new to me?? Must be Euro English saying? I love frogs 🐸 ❤️

I would always recognize myself … my family has my entire life in pictures which I have seen thousands of times in my lifetime lol … we would watch old slides or movies 🎥 growing up to remember ❤️

I would not like to wake like that lol

If I was a rabbit 🐇 I say hmm 🤔… I was gonna say England because of beautiful sprawling English country side … but then hunting is sport there yes?

So then I chose America cause bunny be safer “maybe”? ✌️

Time began for “me” when born… how you answer that? Because do we really know ??

What if time is infinity? So?? How you answer that?

Ha! I forget what day it is lol – they blend

Definitely Casper ❤️ I don’t know anything about the other one you mention?? But I still pick Casper ❤️ I always loved that cartoon ❤️ and he was sweet caring and friendly ❤️

Hmm well for colors orange first… for fruit – no idea 🤷‍♀️

Well I am… ish… mostly ✌️living best life… little crazy sometimes but best life ❤️

No one owes shit – no – you are not owed a life … you make life what you want. You build your life how you wish it

Is not that I feel I owe to self to live life… is more that I love everything about experiencing life and I wasted life with Satan – so I wanna make sure I don’t waste and also follow heart so ✌️ that 💋

    1. Hey Trisha – thanks for taking part 🙂

Yes it is true rabbits are still hunted here in the UK. Perhaps not as widely as they once used to be, They are however classed as a game animal, and a licence isn’t needed to hunt tabbit.

Farmers used to hunt lots of rabbit not just as a way of keeping them off their crops but also as an edible meat for the table.

I think the ability to recognise your younger self is very much an easier task if you have many photographs of your younger self, l have very few photographs of me younger. i have very few of me full stop, never been photogenic and always shied away from the cameras.

It’s funny how so few people know of Spooky the Tuff Little Ghost. i grew up in Australia with the two of them side by side. Spooky is Casper’s cousin and has more freckles than Casp and wears a hat and possesses a large black nose.

      1. Lol … I got caught in your cartoon ❤️

Oh yes I remember him – but he was always mean and playing pranks

Casper was friendly and caring ❤️

My parents always had camera in our faces – both camera and video camera (which at time was huge!)

They also did tape recordings on a cassette player that had a cool microphone – those are funny to hear

The like recorded everything about our lives ❤️ oh yes – I would know myself in a second. Always 😘 at any age

What be one thing you would tell your younger self?

I prefer behind the camera – but have always been in front of camera – I just prefer behind for privacy and security… every so often I make sure to be with pictures or camera so I always remember life even if someday I can’t – I don’t do to be photogenic but rather to preserve my life for me later ❤️😘

Rabbit probably be slightly safer over here? We got PETA lol ✌️❤️

      2. We have PETA over here too and the RSPCA, but still wild rabbits get hunted and saly domestic rabbits cruelly treated.

What would l tell a younger me – divorce your parents now! If l had done that, l would have grown up parentless but in a much saner position.

      3. Lol you are funny

None of us have manuals and they only human – you can’t chose your family lol

But you do well – you are good human being … you did well for self given the adversary

They just give you life but you make your life 😊 and is ok to have error – are human and lessons are a thing

But you have done well – nothing is ever perfect and is all how look at it

My mom had tough upbringing too. Alcoholic father and mother who be weird lol ( I love my grandmother but she was quirky – aka human)

Is ok – is life … and look at you now 👏🙌 despite that!

Yeah animal cruelty is thing here too sadly – why those groups have to exist

      4. I agree with you, Trisha. There is no guidebook on parenting one-to-one on individuals; l think l wish at times my parents hadn’t been so self-absorbed with themselves and realised that they did have two great kids anyway.
But the problem with vanity, narcissism, abuse and selfish and self-pitying behaviours my parents suffered made them very difficult to love.
I did love my parents, and l guess to a specific degree l was luckier because of my Aspergers, for it meant l could distance myself from the bad times and compartmentalise everything more, which served a good point and, sadly, a bad one.
But l did survive, and l am happy with who l am and have become.

      5. They sound toxic – I’m sorry you have that.

Not everyone should have been a parent – back in the day is how things done… what was expected …

But not everyone was made for that.

I knew from day one I wanted to be a mom someday ❤️

I had a satan – also same as you describe but was someone “I” pick 😮 and stay so long – that was my fault

I overcompensated other way with love and fun so they not notice

I wanted them to have the amazing childhood I had. But he made that impossible

I got away but there are things so I get what you say ❤️ you not alone

        I don’t have Asperger’s … I don’t think?? … I just try to make things not so bad

I also survive thanks to comedy, laughter and bright people in my life ❤️

I am also happy who became ❤️

Not so bad – was lessons we probably needed because now we smarter maybe? Lol

  3. Not familiar with mad frogs. If I woke up next next to a headless horse, I would start looking for the head. If I were a rabbit, I would like to visit Rory’s garden. The Universe and time began when I was born in August 1947. Forgot the next question, Casper. Fruit first. Living the best life I can. Trying to stay debt free.
