Matt Snyder The Art of M. |
Today’s Cuppa is with Matt Snyder of The Art of M I joined WordPress in 2011 and have done two art blogs, one photography blog & a short-run memoir blog. For about 11 months, I was the arts editor for a blog called The Finest Example of. Then for about a year, I highlighted the written work of myself & others in a dramatized reading for a podcast called Short Story Saturday. This particular blog started in 2018 under the name which is currently being used primarily as the domain ‘aprolific potpourri.art’ presently known as The Art of M. In regards to the arts, not only do I dip my toes in multiple visual arts, but I Showcase music, the occasional video of sorts and highlight a bit of writing every Wednesday. I write about my life, political opinions, poetry, dreams, and the occasional film & food reviews, and I also do poetry challenges on other people’s blogs. |

What are you most scared of about the future? No longer existing. I have been plagued with that anxiety for 34 years, since I was 18. I’m not the most religious person, and never been able to try new food, feel pleasure, discover new things, or be creative…there is so much about life that I genuinely enjoy. I fear the weather cutting our years even shorter on this planet, and I fear my wife, who is 12 years my junior, not coping well without me (she is bipolar). How many cups of [tea, coffee or other] fruit-flavoured water do you drink a day and when? For breakfast, I drink 32 oz of fruit-flavoured water with additional water in the fruit I eat, 24 oz of flavoured water (i put sugar-free packets in my water) with fruit for lunch, 32 oz flavoured water for dinner with additional water in the veggies I eat. Occasionally I will have a cup of coffee in the morning. I don’t use coffee to jumpstart my day. Do you prefer to cook or go out to eat? I enjoy cooking for my wife and myself. Although we usually make a once-a-month dinner (that we take turns cooking) & a movie with my brother, his partner, their son and his girlfriend. My wife and I are trying to cut out eating locally and choosing to eat out while on vacation only. That includes bingeing on ice cream way too many days in the Summer. Do you have a signature dish you enjoy creating for friends and family? What is it? I have quite a few, and I like to make black bean enchiladas, mushroom & chicken lasagna, Syrian rice & beans and shrimp burgers. What do you do for relaxation? I either laugh at Humor Bagel pretending to fart or watch Beard Meats Food take on an eating challenge on YouTube, and I also like to listen to Trevor Nelson & Steve Lemacq on BBC Radio 2 & 6. When did you first discover your love for movie watching? I am a huge movie buff. I grew up in the 70s and the 80s when the television landscape was less vast than it is today. I discovered a lot of older films from the ’30s to the ’60s. My Mom was a horror movie fan. I saw many age-inappropriate horror films in the theatre with my family. With the advent of the video store in the 90s, that became my life on the weekends, including seeing mainstream films and art house and foreign films in the local art house cinema. I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw a million films of all genres in my lifetime. What is your favourite flower? The Dahlia. It’s both beautiful & scent free (i can’t handle a lot of flowery fragrances without getting a headache) If you had all the free time in the world, what would you do with it? I would churn out a lot of art like I did during the lockdown. As long as I can be creative in some capacity, I am happy. What was the last series you binged on? Currently, it’s a British comedy panel show called Taskmaster, my wife and I are making our way through series 7 of 14, streamed via The Taskmaster Channel on YouTube. |

No longer existing, for me, is the best way out; all the afterlife and reincarnation business sounds too bothersome. Though I do share the worry for those we think rely on us; but the world keeps on turning.
I wonder who is the most religious person today? 😁
