Update to the Earthly Comforts Blog

Shifting Gears: A Clearer Direction for the Blog and Business

When I decide to make a change, I don’t tend to hang about—I get stuck in and move things forward. The recent reboot of Earthly Comforts has been no exception.

July marked a significant transition, and more changes are still to come in the weeks ahead. While the blog and website will remain “closed” for the rest of the year regarding active updates, I’ve scheduled a steady release of content to keep things ticking over.

What’s Changed:

A Softer Look

The marketing colours have been updated. We’ve stepped away from the bold, high-energy green and yellow, once perfect for catching the eye in the early days. As Earthly Comforts becomes more established and rooted in the Sandwich community, our colours reflect a calmer, more grounded tone that better aligns with our local, eco-conscious ethos.

Refined Content Focus

Several legacy series and categories have been retired, including the A–Z posts, personal journal entries, business updates, Plot 17 content, and Ask the Gardener. These no longer reflect the direction or scope of the business. Additionally, decorative post designs have been removed to maintain a cleaner, more relevant layout.

Better Readability

Font sizes have been increased for better accessibility, following feedback that the previous format was difficult for some visitors to read.

Fewer Posts, More Purpose

The blog’s archive has been significantly streamlined—from over 400 posts to 265—to ensure that what remains is meaningful, accessible, and aligned with our updated purpose.

Looking Ahead:

The structure of Earthly Comforts is evolving to support its growth into three core areas:

Gardening Services
Property (including investment and renovation)
Maintenance and Light Outdoor Works

The blog will now serve primarily as a companion to the business—a functional, informative space with occasional content that supports our practical offerings. While there may still be the odd creative piece or reflective note, the overall direction is now firmly business-focused.
