| I’m often asked by clients what my favourite season is, and why. The truth is, I don’t have one—each season has something I enjoy and something that challenges me. Believe it or not, I genuinely like winter. The cooler temperatures are a welcome relief after the increasingly intense summer heat. While winter can be wet, it’s also refreshingly crisp, especially compared to those impossibly hot days we now see in summer. Since developing a sweating disorder, the hotter months have become far more challenging to work in, whereas winter offers a gentler pace and a cooler environment. From a business point of view, it also marks the run-up to year’s end—a time to reflect, plan, and prepare for the seasons ahead. As a green maintenance gardener, winter doesn’t mean the gardening stops; it simply shifts into a different rhythm. Spring is full of energy, offering that wonderful sense of renewal, hope, and optimism that gardens naturally bring. Summer has its own appeal—the brightness, the colour, the life—though the extreme heat can make it tough going. I used to adore autumn for its spectacular colour and the gentle slide into cooler days, but now that I work outdoors year-round, I’ve learned to appreciate every season in its own way. These days, my favourite season is simply the one that feels “just right”—not too hot, not too wet, not too harsh. Like the Three Bears’ porridge, the perfect season is the one that sits comfortably in the middle. So, while I can’t name an ideal season, I can say this: each one brings something valuable, and I’ve grown to respect them all. |
Why Every Season Holds Unique Value
I too find something to celebrate in every season and best of all, I love when seasons change.

Every season has something to offer. We should embrace the changes, and enjoy.

Very true, each one is unique to us at the same time as being unique to the season itself.
